New training for industry workers handling or supervising work with diisocyanates | PRO HR September

2023.09.20

As of 24 August 2023, employers are required to train industry workers on the safe use or supervision of diisocyanates.

The new obligation will apply, among others, to employees of companies that manufacture household appliances, furniture or car parts, and others that use paints, adhesives, construction foams, insulations and sealants.

The training should include, in particular, the identification of risks, ways to reduce risks, and the practical use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The training certificate will be valid for 5 years, after which time the training will have to be repeated.

This is another step taken by the European Commission tightening restrictions introduced by REACH to limit the use of products containing more than 0.1% diisocyanates. If the employer does not want to conduct training its obligation will be to use a concentration of diisocyanates less than 0.1%.
