Citizens of Ukraine covered by the special act will have the right to travel within the Schengen Area | PRO HR August

2022.08.11

A new solution is available to those with a Diia.pl electronic document and a valid travel document.

Diia.pl is an e-document that confirms the basic data about a citizen of Ukraine. It is accessible through the mCitizen mobile application.

Poland has notified the European

Commission, thanks to which it can be used in all Schengen countries.

The presentation of the e-document together with a valid travel document allows for crossing the external borders of the EU and staying within the Schengen area for 90 days within each 180-day period.

What is important, the stay in Poland of a citizen of Ukraine covered by the special act does not count towards this period, which allows free travel within the Schengen Area without the obligation to obtain a visa, for example, in the same way as for holders of Polish residence cards.

The notification of the document solves the problem of entry into Poland.

Previously, although entry after the exhaustion of the visa-free period was possible based on the permission of the commander of the post, obtaining it involved the obligation to prove the purpose of entry into Poland, which could entail additional difficulties.
