EU suspends visa facilitation for Russian citizens and Poland limits entry | PRO HR Alert

2022.09.21

On 12.09.2022 the complete suspension of the agreement between the EU and Russia on visa facilitations for Russian citizens entered into force.

The suspension of the agreement results, among others, in:

  • an increase in the visa application fee from €35 to €80,
  • the obligation to present additional documentary evidence to justify entry into the EU,
  • longer visa processing time
  • more restrictive rules for the issuance of multiple-entry visas.

Besides Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia also announced additional measures restricting Russian citizens from entering the Schengen area on short-term visas. The restrictions are in force in Poland since 19.09.2022 on the land borders and will apply to airport and sea border crossings from 26.09.2022.

We informed about planned restrictions in our recent alert available here.
