As of 30 July 2023, the documents extended by the Covid Act will expire | PRO HR May 2023

2023.05.26

The Ministry of Health has announced a draft regulation abolishing the state of epidemiological threat as of 1 July 2023.

This means that all residence documents that expired after 14 March 2020 and were renewed under the Covid Act must be renewed.

As a result, by 30 July 2023 at the latest, foreigners who still enjoy the so-called "Covid fiction" must:

  • apply for a residence permit, or
  • apply for a new visa, or
  • leave Poland.

The above does not apply to citizens of Ukraine who enjoy EU temporary protection and can still legally reside on the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Note that with the expiration of visas with the right to work, such as the PBH visa, foreigners also lose the right to work without a work permit.
