Work on extending the stay of Ukrainian citizens under temporary protection in Poland is underway. | PRO HR Alert

Amendments to the Ukrainian special law are being processed in the Senate. Residency of Ukrainian citizens to be allowed under new rules. Planned changes:

  1. Temporary protection to be extended until March the 4th, 2024.
  2. Further extension of visa-free travel, as well as national visas, Schengen visas, temporary residence permits (including those issued by other Schengen countries) issued to Ukrainian citizens whose validity would expire on February the 24th, 2022 at the earliest.
  3. Extended to March the 4th, 2024 the period during which a Ukrainian citizen is granted a temporary residence permit for a period of 1 year, in the event that, among other things, he or she does not meet the requirements for granting a temporary residence permit due to the declared purpose of stay or the circumstances on which the permit is sought

The changes are expected to take effect at the end of May 2023.

We would like to remind you that the current regulations give Ukrainian citizens under temporary protection the right to stay in Poland until August the 24th, 2023. The same applies to the validity of visas extended after February the 24th, 2022 and temporary residence permits granted to Ukrainian citizens.
