Working remotely does not mean that abusive and inappropriate behaviour does not occur in employee relationships.

It is the duty of an employer who becomes aware of these to investigate them and take appropriate remedial action. Due to safety concerns and the lack of physical presence of employees in the office, most investigations are now conducted remotely. However, this raises unprecedented challenges and issues that need to be properly managed. The committee conducting the investigation has to deal with technical challenges, confidentiality and focusing and maintaining the attention of the interviewee, among others.
