{"id":72078,"date":"2026-07-24T17:06:47","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T15:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raczkowski.eu\/en\/?p=72078"},"modified":"2026-07-24T17:06:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T15:06:47","slug":"work-in-high-temperatures-will-soon-be-prohibited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raczkowski.eu\/en\/work-in-high-temperatures-will-soon-be-prohibited\/","title":{"rendered":"Work in high temperatures will soon be prohibited"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <strong>10 July 2026<\/strong>, the occupational health and safety regulations were amended.<\/p>\n<p>According to the new provisions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Workplaces must ensure a temperature of no more than <strong>35\u00b0C<\/strong>, unless technological requirements make this impossible.<\/li>\n<li>For work performed outdoors involving physical effort resulting in an effective energy expenditure during the working shift exceeding:<strong> 1,500 kcal for men<\/strong>, and<strong> 1,000 kcal for women<\/strong>, the temperature may not exceed <strong>32\u00b0C<\/strong>, unless technological requirements make this impossible.<\/li>\n<li>Work performed indoors or outdoors may not be carried out during periods when, due to weather conditions, the temperature exceeds the relevant thresholds specified above.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Where the temperature in the workplace, due to weather conditions, exceeds <strong>28\u00b0C<\/strong>, or <strong>25\u00b0C<\/strong> in the case of work involving physical effort resulting in an effective energy expenditure during the working shift exceeding 1,500 kcal for men and 1,000 kcal for women, the employer will be required to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Provide appropriate technical solutions reducing or limiting the increase in temperature, unless technological requirements make this impossible, or<\/li>\n<li>Apply appropriate organisational measures minimising the impact of temperature on employees\u2019 health, taking into account the conditions and nature of the work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Examples of technical solutions include installation of external blinds or special films blocking direct sunlight from entering rooms, installation of air-conditioning systems to cool the air. Organisational measures may include introducing additional paid breaks included in working time, relaxing rules regarding required work clothing.<\/p>\n<p>For outdoor work, where the temperature exceeds <strong>25\u00b0C<\/strong> due to weather conditions, the employer is required to apply appropriate organisational measures minimising the impact of temperature on employees\u2019 health, depending on the working conditions and the specific nature of the work.<\/p>\n<p>Organisational measures for this type of work may include changing working time schedules by moving start times in order to avoid work during the hottest part of the day, more frequent rotation of tasks between employees, so that they spend less time directly exposed to sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>Employers must first and foremost take steps to verify the energy expenditure associated with physically demanding work.
